We think we're in the middle and there's lots of time ahead
Before we reach that unknown place which signifies we've run our race.
I met one of us lately with one foot already there
Who didn't seem to know it as he breathed the cool fresh air.
His eyes were large and hollow; his flesh hung loose and spare.
It was clear to all who saw him that his time was nearly up.
The only thing that he had left were dregs from his life's cup.
But he's not the only one who thinks there's lots of time
To live and play before the ending of his day,
Who thinks there's time to say "I love you. We've had a lot of fun"
And say to other dear ones "Thanks for all you've done".
So... suppose it's all behind you and your time is running out
That where you've been is all you've got.
Have you fulfilled the dreams you dreamed when life was young and new
When you sat around debating oh what shall I do?
Have you done half you planned and have you done it well?
Or have you wasted time so there's nothing much to tell?
Take a deep look into your own life's book.
Seize and cherish this minute. Be glad you're still in it!
Start right where you are to find your true star.
